How to print a double plate intaglio print

1. Obtain two 9"x12" zinc plates
2. Do a 9"x12"drawing
3. Cut paper into 15"x22"
4. Cover the plate in hard ground, while the hot plate is at 300 degrees
5. After zinc plate has cooled, trace design on red iron-oxide paper to transfer the image onto the plate
6. Etch the image onto the zinc plate, repeat process for second plate as well.
7. After the image is etched onto the plates, put the plate in hydrochloric acid to make the etching become permanent to the plate(s)
8. After the plate has been in the acid for 3 minutes, remove the plate and wipe off any sediment deposited on the plate with water.
9. After this make sure the plate is degreased to get rid of any remaining residue, the start the inking process.
10. Mix black in with one part oil and cover the plate with ink using tarleton
11. Put printing paper in water for about 20 minutes.
12. After plate is covered in ink and the paper has dried, put the paper on the press bed.
13. Make sure the press bed is set at 4 over 1 for the pressure setting
14. Roll you print through, leave one edge of your paper with enough room to be trapped under the press bed
15. After print is trapped remove the first plate from under the paper
16. Using a buddy for help and a T square to be sure the paper lines up correctly put the second plate in position under the paper
17. Once again roll the plate through the printing press.
18. Let your print dry for about 3 hours
19. You have successfully completed a double plate intaglio printing
